Title: 40mm Pancake Lens FTW!It’s new glass day in Terryland… I’ve been eyeing the new Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM since Canon released it last month. We all know I’m a prime lover and while this is not L-Rated, after reading all the reviews I knew I had to have it. First impression: WOW it’s tiny! About an inch tall and barely takes up any real estate on my 5D Mark III. In fact, it does look awkward on my camera body with battery grip. It really is that small. The lens is whisper quiet and tack sharp… for $200 you can’t go wrong!Oh, and if you are a crop-sensor shooting this is the perfect if you want a true 50mm ranged piece of glass, but even on the full frame body I love the look of 40mm. Second impression: While I’m not a video person, nor claim to be, I really love the way video is looking that comes off this piece of glass. Might have to actually play around with video more with this one!All and all, did I need this lens? Not really, but I’m glad I did!
