Title: Bean Counter.
I’ve always been a fan of Depth of Field and bokeh. In fact, it’s one of my favorite things about photography.
So what is Depth of Field?

Title: Empty Dreams.
5 Things I Love About This Coffee Photo
1. The textures that pop out of the woodgrain/table.
2. Silky smooth depth of field.
3. Tack-sharp focal point on the coffee cup’s handle.
4. The light orbs/points of light on the water cup in the bokeh.
5. Most importantly… the photo has not only a true black and white tone, but all the shades of gray in-between.
Title: Bikes and Coffee.
The sun has finally come out in the Midwest… totally making me think it’s time to get the bike back out and on the road today!
Shot with a Fujifilm X100 inside the Heritage General Store in Chicago, IL.

Title: The Look of Coffee.
Nerd-Chic portrait of my assistant Ian Anderson. Natural light through an open window, no flash and taken with a Canon EOS 5DMark III / EF 35mm f/1.4L combo.
Title: Looking His Age.
Portrait of my assistant. I tend to get this look A LOT! Shot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III and a EF 35mm f/1.4L lens.
Title: Visible Light.
There are so many things I like about this photo…. from the illustrations on the chalkboard wall to the amber glow of the light. Throw in a few handwritten fonts and a off center composition and we have a winner!
I know I took the shot… so I may be playing favorites, but this image might be my favorite photo that I’ve ever taken.
I should also mention that this photo was taken at a coffeehouse and we all know coffee is near and dear to the way I function daily.
Location: Astro Coffee. Corktown, Detroit, Michigan.

Title: Lemonjello’s.
Holland, Michigan coffeehouse love! Pretty much one of the only reasons to make the trip out to that part of the Lakeshore.
Shot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L, and 580 EX II Speedlite (off-camera flash via sync-cord).
