Title: Mirror Image. Some of my favorite images that I make at fashion shows are the ones that are made backstage. These backstage shots of the models getting ready are always so full of emotion and they tend to introduce you to the overall vibe of the event. The photos from backstage have an slight voyeuristic feel to them as well and you get the chance to let the viewer look into something that they normally never get to see, feel, or experience. Outtake from Runway For Charity. Shot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark III and a EF 85mm f/1.2L II lens.

Title: Kidding Around.Wanted to share my favorite image from Opening Day at the Downtown Market. Assignment: Grand Rapids Downtown Alliance. So many people came out, shopped, and took in the new surroundings of the Downtown Market in the South Arena District of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Of course, the inner street photographer in me was not only ready for action, but jumping for joy!One image/person stuck out… almost as if she was floating on air and calling attention to my eyes. This one person is the little girl in the photo above. The very first thing I noticed was the bright red balloon animal in her hand and the perspective that she had in the crowd from her dad’s shoulders. The second thing I noticed was how both her and her father had the exact same facial expressions. You can see the resemblance in their eyes, noses, and even the way they are looking at what is in front of them. Last and not least, I noticed the lines above the crowd and how they forced my eyes into the frame - it was after taking all of these 3 visual cues that I knew the photo HAD to be taken.Of course, many amazing images were made… but to me this one is the Money Shot!
