If you ever get to Wicker Park/Chicago, IL I highly recommend you have coffee at the Wormhole. The coffee is top shelf, the decor is way-back trendy and there is plenty of hipster eye-candy to go around. I love this shot I took of their entry… we all know I’m a sucker for reflections and this one has a hidden bonus - a Cosby Show poster in the mix!

The Definition of Sepia
Are you ready to take a step back in time with your photographs? Sepia is the number one process used by photographers to get this effect… so what exactly is sepia?
In a nutshell - Sepia is a dark brown/gray color named after the rich brown pigment derived from the ink sac of the cuttlefish family called Sepia.
Sepia tones in photography terms are hues that resemble the effect of an aged photograph and the photographs chemically treated for archival purposes. There is often debate whether sepia photographs are considered to be part of the black and white family and more times than none it honestly depends on who you ask.
In the 1990s due to the alternative music scene there was a resurgence in the use of sepia as it resembled a “grunge tone” or dirty tone. Because there are technically 45 different sepia tones, ranging from beige to the actual color sepia, the range of how this effect can be used in photography is endless - or should I say timeless?
So there you have it… the definition of sepia!
